Re: Assign macro to Ctrl + R

There is a rather complete Tutoriol on binding keys to a Macro in the tutorial section of this forum.

Or are you trying to say that you generally know how to do this, but just the special case Ctrl-R doesn't work for you?
Keep in mind that OpenOffice has office suite wide key bindings and application specific bindings. And your macro should be stored in your user profile and not in a Calc document to make it available all the time you run OpenOffice.

OpenOffice 3.1.1 (2.4.3 until October 2009) and LibreOffice 3.3.2 on Windows 2000, AOO 3.4.1 on Windows 7
There are several macro languages in OOo, but none of them is called Visual Basic or VB(A)! Please call it OOo Basic, Star Basic or simply Basic.

In an other file I might want to assign this key combination to an other macro.

I think it is not the best solution.

In my opinion, you need use "buttons" or other form control element (located inside of document) to launch a macro (contained in the document)

Please, edit the initial post in the topic: add the word [Solved] at the beginning of the subject line - if your problem has been solved.

isn't this the same method that Bobban described in the tutorial? In my OpenOffice 3.3 Version the label is "Keyboard", not "Shortcut keys" and I have to click on the "Modify" Button, not on "Save". But you are right, my initial assumption that these shortcuts will only work for Macros in the user profile or in the shared OpenOffice installation area is wrong.

Edit: Forgot to mention that it would be a good thing, if you add a comment to Bobban's tutorial if the label names are really different in LibO 3.4. I know the rule is "no questions in the tutorial forum", but these kind of comments that are helpful for all are surely welcome.

Anyway I would still go with Tibor suggestion to use Button Controls inside of the Calc Document. Because anything you customize (menu bars, keyboard shortcut, fonts, etc.) will be stored in your profile folder. If you transfer the document to another computer you will have to repeat the process for assigning the keyboard shortcut.

On the other hand I understand your preference for a keyboard shortcut: It is usually faster then a button, because for the button you will have to swap your fingers to the mouse.
